London's Lyric Hammersmith postpones Aladdin pantomime to 2021/22 season
Abu! We told you not to touch the forbidden treasure! It may seem like The Cave of Wonders has come crashing down on all of our holiday wishes, but the good news, at least, is that Aladdin will still come flying in by magic carpet ride next Christmas! The bad news? Well, some freelancers and theatre workers may really need your help!
After Chancellor Rishi Sunak disgracefully announced that the furlough scheme will not be extended for theatre employees and with the 1.57bn package not being paid out to venues until the early autumn, the postponement of the Aladdin pantomime should be the least of your worries. There are many people without work!
Donate to the Theatre Artists Fund here to support theatre workers and freelancers in need.

Qdos sets deadline on when to decide whether 34 pantomime shows will go ahead
The UK's biggest pantomime producer, Qdos Pantomimes, has set a deadline on when it will decide whether 34 of its Christmas pantomime productions this year will go ahead or be cancelled. If by 3 August 2020 Qdos does not get clarity from the government, it will "have to begin the process of unravelling the season," according to the Qdos Managing Director, Michael Harrison.
The news comes after BBC reported that some pantomime productions are beginning to cancel their shows ahead of what's been referred to as a "make-or-break" holiday season for many UK theatres. So far, Aladdin 2020 at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre in London has not been affected, but other venues such as the Norwich Theatre Royal and venues in Welwyn Garden City and Buxton have already had to call off their panto productions.

Aladdin panto to return to London’s Lyric Hammersmith!
Disney’s Aladdin musical bid farewell last summer at the Prince Edward Theatre with the practically perfect Mary Poppins musical taking its place. But fans of Prince Ali can at least have something to look forward to this year with the highly anticipated return of the Aladdin pantomime, stylised as Aladdin 2020! The popular off-West End panto production will run at the Lyric Hammersmith in London for the 2020 holiday season!
