Three generations explore contrasting ideas about loyalty, ambition and what it takes to win in this powerful locker room drama from multi award winning writer Patrick Marber. A promising young football player arrives at a struggling non-league club and pits the veteran kit man against the ambitious manager who’ll do anything to keep the club and himself afloat.
In a play that resonates in contemporary British society, The Red Lion goes far beyond the pitch to look at hope, obsessions and the desperation of humanity to be a part of something.

Utterly fantastic acting from the cast and a great story. As a regular theatre it's one of the best shows I've seen this year.
Wonderfully set and props, exceptional acting, great venue and vibe ??????
An enjoyable evening. Possibly written before all the revelations that I think everyone is aware of (bungs and drugs) so nothing to shock you .. but plenty to amuse.
While I am sure that this production, by Trish Wadley, of the Red Lion could have drawn a lot more people it was a privilege to see Stephen Tompkinson (DCI Banks and Brassed Off) playing the manager on the make. No intermission it is a rip roaring 90 minutes which makes you laugh and makes you sad. Raw human emotions - well mens' anyway! See it!
I saw this last night. This was a very good piece of writing beautifully acted by an outstanding cast. The performance deserved the standing ovation. The small theatre enhanced our enjoyment of the piece. This was what good theatre is all about. John Haines jwhaines@btconnect.com
Absolutely brilliant! Can't recommend highly enough. Great story, acting and venue.
Excellently written play brought to brilliant life by the highly talented cast. We didn’t want it to end!
Great production, very believable cast, dark humour interspersed with reality. Enjoyed it very much.
